Junior Golf

The Tiger Woods Foundation is trying to introduce young players to the world of junior golf. When Tiger Woods was eight years old he won an international junior championship. He repeated five more times before the age of 16. In 1992 he won the U.S. Junior national championships.

The Tiger Woods Foundation National Junior Golf Team was created to recognize Tiger's work with underprivileged children. Tiger's late father Earl said that the foundation gives more people a chance to play junior golf. The foundation offers nonprofit organizations funding for year-round mentoring and tutoring programs as well.

Junior golf gives players the opportunity to participate in a positive program and build self-esteem. Golf has traditionally been played only by upper-class people. However, the Tiger Woods foundation hopes to expand opportunities to children from all socioeconomic statuses.
